New Lebanon Soccer Club –
Mission Statement
The New Lebanon Soccer Club endeavors
to provide youth soccer players (ages
5-17) with a positive experience in
playing and learning about the game
of soccer. By instructing our soccer
players in the skills and fundamentals
of the game of soccer; the New Lebanon
Soccer Club hopes that our players
will also benefit through improved
physical health, physical conditioning,
coordination, and the fun of being
a member of a team. The Club also
hopes to instill in all of our players
a sense of good sportsmanship, fellowship,
and a commitment to the enjoyment
of the game of soccer.
The New Lebanon Soccer Club offers
a Recreational program and a Travel
program. Both are summarized below.
Please see the Travel
Program or Recreational
Program links for more complete
information.
Recreational Soccer Program
The Recreational Program stresses
the fundamentals of soccer and concentrates
on the players having fun playing
soccer. In conjunction with having
fun, our recreational coaches try to
instruct our players in the basic
skills and strategy of playing soccer.
Recreational Soccer is generally split
in three or four different age level
groups (Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd
grade, 3rd and 4th Grade and sometimes
5th and 6th grade) and encourage fellowship
and enjoyment of the game of soccer.
In the Recreational League, winning
is not a priority; quite the contrary,
learning about the game of soccer
and having fun with the rest of the
team is the priority. The Recreational
League has two seasons: a fall season
usually starting in September, and
a spring season usually starting in
late April. Recreational Registration
forms are available on our forms page.
Travel Soccer Program
The Travel Program starts to emphasize the competitive
level of soccer play. As the travel players progress into the older age brackets, they focus more on competition. Typically, our
Travel League players are players
who want more of a challenge from
soccer. They enjoy improving their
soccer playing skills by competing
with other competitive regional teams.
Our Travel League teams are coached
by certified coaches who have completed
coaching certification courses given
by the United States Soccer Federation.
Travel teams generally require a greater
level of commitment from our players
in terms of practice time and personal
commitment from the players and their parents. Travel
teams play in age groups that are
established by the Capital District
Youth Soccer League (CDYSL). Tryouts
are conducted for travel teams. As
a general rule, if a team has to cut players, the most talented,
competitive and committed players
will be given first preference in
forming travel teams. The Travel League
has only one season for U14 and up;
a spring season that starts at the
end of April. A fall travel season
is also offered for U10’s and
U12’s (since they don’t
have the opportunity to play for a
high school team in the Fall). Registraton forms for Travel soccer are available on our forms page.
